Step 1 – Visit Your Texas Benefits Website

To start the login process for your YourTexasBenefits account, visit the YourTexasBenefits Account website at yourtexasbenefits.com.

What is the Texas SNAP/ Food Stamps Income Limit?

Here are the Texas SNAP Income Eligibility Standards for Fiscal Year 2021/2022.

Note that both the Gross Income Limit and the Net Income Limit as based on a percentage of the Federal Poverty Level (FPL).

Gross monthly income means a household’s total income before excluding deductions allowed under the program.

Deductions are expenses that are subtracted from the household’s monthly gross income when determining eligibility and the amount of SNAP benefits that will be received monthly.

For most households, the monthly gross income must be at or below 200% of the Federal Poverty Level for the household size to be eligible.

Individuals who purchase and prepare food together are counted as one (1) household for SNAP purposes.

When is Texas Food Stamps Deposited on EBT Card?

The date your Texas SNAP benefits are deposited varies based on the last digit of your EDG Number.

Here is the Texas SNAP EBT Deposit Schedule for 2021:

If the Last digit of your EDG Number is: Benefits are deposited on:
0 1st of the month
1 3rd of the month
2 5th of the month
3 6th of the month
4 7th of the month
5 9th of the month
6 11th of the month
7 12th of the month
8 13th of the month
9 15th of the month

Once your benefits are deposited into your account, you can begin using them with your Texas EBT card to purchase eligible food items.

What does Texas SNAP Benefits not cover?

Your Texas EBT Card cannot be used to purchase any hot or prepared food item, as well as any non-food items.

Here is a list of items that your EBT does not cover:

  • Beer, wine, liquor, cigarettes, or tobacco
  • Soaps, paper products, cosmetics, grooming items
  • Pet food (for example, dog food, cat food, etc.)
  • Vitamins or medicines
  • Food that will be eaten in the store
  • Hot foods

Other Items you cannot buy with your EBT Card include:

  • Charcoal
  • Cod liver oil
  • Cough drops
  • Crabs (cooked and hot)
  • Diapers
  • Dietary Supplements (for example, GNC, and most protein powders)
  • Dry ice
  • Energy drinks with Supplement Information labels (for example, 5-Hour Energy)
  • Fertilizer and insecticides
  • Flax oil
  • Fountain Drinks
  • Gift baskets (if the food part of the gift basket is less than 50% of the total price)
  • Ice cream cone/sundae
  • Livestock (for example, live animals or birds)
  • Cakes (that are more than 50% non-edible)
  • Toilet paper
